After sending
Confirmations
What visitors see after sending: a message, a page or an address, chosen by rules.
Confirmations are set in the form's After sending tab. The first confirmation whose condition matches is used; a confirmation without a condition is the fallback.
Types
| What happens | Notes |
|---|---|
| Show a message | The message can replace the form, appear above or below it, or show and then return to the form |
| Message, then go to a page | Shows the message, waits the number of seconds you choose, then opens the page |
| Message, then go to an address | The same with any web address |
| Go to a page | Opens a page of your site straight away |
| Go to an address | Opens any web address straight away |
| Reload the page | Reloads the page the form is on |
Messages can use merge tags, for example "Thank you, {field:name.first}. Your reference is {entry:reference}." When going to a page or address you can add to the address a query string with merge tags, such as ref={entry:reference}; values are encoded for you.
After a message, the form can go back to its defaults, be emptied, or keep the answers.
Showing the answers on another page, or continuing in another form
Turn on Let the next page show the answers or continue in another form in a confirmation that goes to a page or an address, and choose how many hours the link works (1 to 72). When the address is on your own site, the visitor arrives with a signed link to their entry (addresses on other sites never receive it). The page can use the link in two ways:
- Show the answers with the
[flavonto_entry]shortcode:[flavonto_entry]prints all answers,[flavonto_entry field="email"]one answer, and[flavonto_entry form="3"]Thanks {field:name}, your reference is {entry:reference}.[/flavonto_entry]your own text with merge tags. Addfallback="..."for the text shown without a valid link.formlimits the shortcode to entries of that form. - Continue in another form: a form on that page with Fill in answers from a link to an earlier entry turned on (Submission settings) fills in its fields that have the same field names. Under Forms it may continue from, choose which forms' entries it accepts; entries of the same form are always accepted. Sending it stores a new entry.
Staff can make the same kind of link from an entry with Link that fills in a form: enter the address of the page and how many days the link works (1 to 30). The link is recorded in the entry's timeline.
Anyone who has the link can see the answers until it expires, so send it only to the person who gave them. Pages opened with a link are marked so search engines and caches do not keep them.
Accessibility
Messages are announced to screen readers and keyboard focus moves to them. When a message is followed by another page after a delay, a line under the message says how long the wait is and offers a Go now link.
Without JavaScript
The form still works. Messages show after the page reloads. Confirmations that go to a page or address go there straight away, including "message, then go" types (the message is skipped).
Conversion tracking
There is no need to paste Google Ads or Analytics code into a message. Turn on the form's Analytics settings instead: a successful entry sends your chosen event, and a Google Ads conversion if you enter one, to the tracking code already on your site. It is sent once per entry, whichever confirmation follows. See Integrations.
